What Made Fortnite Popular

Fortnite hardly needs an introduction or an explanation of its mechanics. What started as a Battle Royale spinoff of what is an originally a zombie shooter game (albeit not a horror one), Fortnite rose to fame for three reasons. First is its building mechanics. Players can build structures, even on the fly, provided that they have enough resources, which are gathered from the environment. They not only serve as cover, but can also be fashioned into a small shelter and even a watchtower. This makes learning what to build in every situation an important skill in the game.

Another would be its very active dev support. Oftentimes, Epic would launch all sorts of events that would encourage players to play, especially if that event gave players a chance to get freebies or experience historic, once-in-a-lifetime happenings. In fact, some players feel like there are more days when there is an event than those that there isn't.

A part of those events and another reason for its popularity would be skins. While it's not always the case, many skins are tied to a particular event. When the event ends, so does the availability of the skins from the Fortnite Item Shop. As for those that aren't connected to one, they too are available for a limited time as well. While Epic Games brings many of them back again, there is no telling when, so the best time to buy them is their release date.

How to Get the Ikonik Skin in Fortnite

There are skins that are exclusive bundles with a particular product. This has been the case with the Fortnite Xbox Skins, which is for players on the namesake console. This is also true with the Fortnite Ikonik Skin, which came with The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+.

It's impractical to buy the devices they're bundled up with just to get the skin. For that, players can buy an account with these skins instead. Plus, for the Ikonik skin, players buying those previously mentioned flagship Samsung phones will no longer get them one, as it's been replaced by the Glow skin. Those that managed to get the Ikonik skin, however, get to keep them in their accounts.

The Glow skin is equally impressive, but the skin of a cool guy donning red and black urbanwear with white armguards has become limited-edition because it's been phased out. It's become rare for two reasons, so those wondering how they can get this skin will have to buy an account with one. This is true for many other skins.

Other examples of a skin like this are the following:

  • Double Helix – a guy with a white tactical vest and military goggles, this skin can only be obtained by those that play Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch.
  • Aerial Assault Trooper – despite being relatively simple in design, this skin is highly sought-after because other than the fact that there are no longer any ways to get it, it is also one of the game's first skins. Even back then, it was difficult to obtain, it required players to be level 15 first before they can buy it for 1200 V-Bucks.
  • Renegade Raider – like the Aerial Assault Trooper, this skin also has a simple design and required players to be at a certain level before it can be bought for the same price. Instead of 15, however, it was 20.

How Much is a Fortnite Account with the Ikonik Skin?

There are many other Fortnite skins in the same boat and buying an account that has them has become the only way to get them. It's also for that reason that sellers are generally able to sell these accounts at quite high prices. Players that truly want to get their hands on them must be ready to fork out the money. It's easy to see the worth in these skins, however, as many of these skins are considered as not just Fortnite history, but gaming history as a whole.

Even so, buyers will still take the effort to offers on accounts that have the skin they want from different sellers in order to try and get it for the best price possible.
